“FAMILY, FELLOWSHIP AND FAITH WILL BE MY SPECIAL EMPHASIS DURING MY TERM AS PRESIDENT.”
Dr. Ollie Powe, III NOA President 2017-2019
It is with great joy and humility that I accept the position as the 26th President of the National Optometric Association. This organization was founded in 1969 by some of the greatest optometric minds in the world; to recruit, retain, and place aspiring, diverse, minority and underrepresented students in Schools and Colleges of Optometry so they can continue, “Advancing the Visual Health of Minority Populations” as Doctors. To this end, this administration will uphold this mission and commitment.
Family, Fellowship and Faith will be my special emphasis during my term as President. The corporate and individual NOA families are bound together as a caring and nurturing entity. During our annual convention and throughout the year, this family will thrive as a unit, to enhance and insure fellowship. We will partake in continuing education, industry seminars, and network with each other under the umbrella of the optometric profession. The wise council of the elders among us and the zeal of the younger warriors can help solve the various life issues and work obstacles that we confront on a daily basis. Faith in our God will lift us and our profession to ensure continuity, purpose and reason for our existence.
Please join me in this endeavor to advance the visual health of our under-served communities, and to enhance the inclusion of diverse students in optometry schools. We need more NOA Doctors! The newly elected officers are ready to make it happen. We are not asking what the NOA can do for us, but what can we do for the NOA? Thank you for visiting our website. Renew your membership or become a member and donate to the NOF.
You will be excited and enthused to witness being a part of your colleagues’ involvement and aura of family, fellowship and faith.
Love, Joy and Peace be upon you all!
Ollie Powe, III, OD President
